BMW confirms facelift introduction

BMW today confirmed that they will run their cars with the new facelift at the race in Morroco, as TouringCarTimes reported three weeks ago.
“The face lift is mainly an optical change. The WTCC cars are based on the normal production cars, and in September 2008 the facelifted version of the BMW 3 Series was launched on the markets,” said Friedhelm Nohl, BMW Motorsport General Manager.

“This is the reason why the race version adopts now these modifications as well.”

While rumors have suggested that the new kit means a stronger engine, BMW emphasizes that it is only a visual upgrade that has a little effect on the aerodynamics.

“The new design will have only some marginal influence on the aerodynamics.”

The facelift features a new bonnet, headlamps, wider air intakes and a new front bumper. The BMW in the picture has got the new facelift.
