Marrakech construction nearing completion
The first FIA World championship event in Morocco since the seventies is getting closer. The World Touring Car Championship is going to race at the Marrakech Grand Prix next weekend and construction work of the track is nearing completion.
“The construction of this circuit to date has been smooth,” said Heath Dickson, Operations Director, D3 Motorsport Development.
“It certainly helps having one of the countries largest construction companies Groupe Menara beside us ensuring we have all the equipment and labour we need to get this circuit ready.”
The circuit is located 10 minutes from the city center and some of the main streets of the city are going to be used for the race.
“Street circuits can be disruptive to local business and residents, so we are thankful for the support and patience of those who live and work in the Agdal area,” Dickson said.
The race is going to take place on the 1st to 3rd of May and the final homologation of the circuit is going to take place shortly.
“We are very confident with the progress that’s been made with circuit construction to date. It’s a full construction schedule from now until the race, but we know the
Moroccan’s are doing a great job and will get this finished,” said Dickson.
