SEAT gets increased turbo pressure
SEAT has got their maximum turbo pressure increased after a decision from the FIA Touring Car Bureau. The previous limit was 2.4 bar with a tolerance of 0.4 bar. The new maximum pressure has been increased to 2.7 bar.
The Spanish manufacturer was mildly upset at the previous race in France when the WTCC organization removed the variable maximum tubro pressure tolerance without notice.
The tolerance was set depending on the air temperature and altitude.
The SEAT cars were completely off pace at Pau, with Rickard Rydell as best SEAT in the qualifying on 15th position.
The other hotly debated rule during the race at Pau was over revving during downshifting and spikes in the turbo pressure. Nine cars had their fastest times removed in qualifying due to this.
But when 15 cars were found to repeat that during the race, no penalties were issued.
From now on spikes in the turbo pressure that does not last longer than one second are allowed. The spikes can occur during downshifting or wheel spin.
The rules regarding over reving has been clarified as well:
“Cases of over reving while downshifting, wheelspinning and jumping over the kerbs will not be taken into account.”
