BMW dominant in first test session
This morning BMW stood for Brno MotorWay. On the track in the Czech republic the BMW were clearly the faster cars, taking the top five positions. Andy Priaulx was the fastest of them, setting a time of 2:20.998 on the wet circuit.
The Briton was 0.15s faster than his team mate Alex Zanardi, who had dominated the races at Brno last year. Third was Augusto Farfus, ahead of Jörg Müller. Privateer driver Stefano D’Aste took fifth place.
Rickard Rydell, who wants to change his row of bad luck at Brno, was the fastest of the SEAT drivers in sixth. Jordi Gene and Tiago Monteiro were the only other SEAT’s to get into the top ten, setting nineth and tenth fastest times respectively.
Nicola Larini was the best Chevrolet driver in seventh. His team mates Rob Huff and Alain Menu were down in 14th and 18th.
Tom Coronel suffered from engine problems at the beginning of the session. His car worked on only three cylinders. After the problem had been solved he set the twelfth fastest time. His twin brother Tim was 19th in his first WTCC session.
