Yokohama tyre supplier until 2012

As we reported earlier, Yokohama is going to continue as the sole tyre supplier for the World Touring Car Championship for the next three seasons.
“Working with WTCC is a great challenge for us. This is very close fought and competitive championship, with different kinds of cars,” said Akinori Tokieda, Yokohama’s General Motorsports Manager.

“And because these racing cars are closely derived from the standard production models, eventually many ideas from the race tyres find their way into production road tyres.

And motorsport is a very good measure for testing new materials and techniques to be incorporated into standard tyres.”
