Hard races for Volvo at Brands Hatch
The Volvo team had two hard races in the World Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch. It started with Robert Dahlgren getting his times removed from qualifying as the team worked with the car during parc ferme between Q1 and Q2. But despite that Dahlgren was pleased.
“It was some very fun racing there, but extremely hard,” said Dahlgren.
While Dahlgren finished both races, though outside top ten, his team mate Tommy Rustad retired from both.
The Norwegian started last in the second race and had to retire only four laps in to the race after a collision with James Thompson.
“I am actually quite irritated over that, a driver in the WTCC should not need to take other drivers off the track to get past. The hit was both unmotivated and unfair,” said Rustad.
Dahlgren finished 14th in the second race after a hard fight with Félix Porteiro.
“It was hard, but really fun. Unfortunately it was not easy to fight up through the field, you have to fight for each centimeter in WTCC.
I fought with Porteiro all the way over the finish line, that is the way racing is supposed to be. But of course, I would much rather fight at the top of the field,” said Dahlgren.
