SEAT concerned over rule changes
The FIA World Touring Car Championship is heading back to the tracks after the summer break. SEAT are ready for the final part of the season but says that they are working hard to compensate for the rule changes done by the FIA Touring Car Bureau.
“As a result of the changes introduced by the FIA Bureau to the technical rules, our cars aren’t driving at the same pace as at the beginning of the season,” said SEAT Sport director Jaime Puig.
SEAT got the maximum turbo pressure changed earlier in the season for their turbo charged diesel engines.
“We’ll have to work hard to overcome this handicap, and teamwork is going to be even more essential than ever to maintain our leadership until the end.”
SEAT drivers Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini are first and second respectively in the championship and have got an interesting battle for the title ahead of them selves.
“This last part of the season beginning in Germany is going to be exciting for everyone, but at the same time I think it’s going to be tough for the SEAT team; even tougher than last year since we’re all so evenly matched. I’m ready to defend my world title, and I’m going to do my best, as always, to win again,” said Muller.
Tarquini is aiming to give his team mate Muller a good run for his money, but also raises a warning flag for BMW driver Augusto Farfus.
“This situation is very similar to last year, and I’m sure the decisive championship race will be the last one, in Macao. My dream would be to vie for the championship victory together with my team-mate Yvan Muller, but this year Augusto Farfus is stronger than ever and could be the driver to beat.
As far as the tracks are concerned, the SEAT León is very comfortable in Imola and Macao. And the BMWs might be really fast in Oschersleben and Okayama,” said Tarquini.
