Victory for Mariano Werner

Mariano Werner has taken victory at Neuquen for the latest round of the Argentinean championship – whilst team mate Norberto Fontano closes in on the championship lead with fourth.

After a troubled start to the season, the Toyota Team Argentina’s drivers have taken wins at the last three events, as the large points haul in the series premier event at Buenos Aires has put Norberto Fontana right in contention.

Werner had no trouble turning his pole into victory, despite a safety car interruption after rookie Dario Delvas went off in his Volkswagen Bora.

Equipe Petrobras driver Juan Manual Silva actually extends his lead slightly with 90 points over team mate Jose Maria Lopez – after Lopez retired with an electrical problem. Fontana now just trails by 10 points though going into the next race at Santa Fe next month on October 4th.
