Grid penalty for Alain Menu

Chevrolet driver Alain Menu has received a ten position grid penalty for the first World Touring Car Championship race of the day at Imola. The engine of Menu’s Chevrolet Cruze gave up in a big cloud of smoke at the end of the first qualifying session.

The team was forced to, firstly, sit out the second qualifying session and then change the engine.

Due to the engine change, Menu is dropped from tenth on the grid to 20th for the first race of the day.
