Proteam disappointed after Imola
Scuderia Proteam Motorsport, the team of independent driver Felix Porteiro, is dissapointed with the outcome of the last round of the World Touring Car Championship at Imola. Even though Felix Porteiro had one of his best weekends so far this year, he lost valuable points to his main rival in the Independents Trophy, Tom Coronel.
In both races Porteiro scored a second place, but the chaos in the first corner of the first race gave his rival Coronel the opportunity to get ahead of the Spaniard. The way Coronel did that upsets Proteam Motorsport.
“We are disappointed, as we were not able to turn our good performances into points”, team owner Valmiro Presenzini Mattoli says.
“The stewards’ behaviour concerning Coronel’s chicane cut was not what we thought and expected would be, especially because we have clear memories of what happened with d’Aste, back when he was driving for our team, in Spa.
He lost a win because of an episode that looked much like this one. Coronel’s result brought huge changes to the Independents’ standings, something we feel was heavily influenced by that episode.”
“We are not going to let this let us down, though, and we’ll give our best try to the last two events of Okayama and Macau, in order to change the situation dramatically and take the title with Porteiro. We are sure we can do it, although the gap between us and Coronel is now huge.”
