Proteam could leave WTCC next year

Privateer team Proteam Motorsport could be leaving the World Touring Car Championship for the Italian series Superstars next year.
“Superstars is very interesting, it is a series that we are looking in to seriously,” said team boss Valmiro Presenzini Mattoli.

The team has not taken an official decision for next year yet. But doing both series next year seems to not be an option for the team.

“Of course, putting forward two tough projects as WTCC and Superstars would be very difficult. We are still looking at all the different options, but we have a lot of enthusiasm towards this new challenge,” said Mattoli.

Mattoli is thrilled over the recent development of the Superstars series.

“The visibility of the series is increasing, just like the TV coverage and the involvement of the manufacturers, who are increasing their committment in enabling the teams to build new cars,” said Mattoli.

It remans to be seen if the team leaves the WTCC.
