Yokohama introduces ECO racing tyres

Yokohama are going to introduce ECO racing tyres for the FIA World Touring Car Championship next year. The new tyre mixture consists of oil and rubber that replaces with low polycyclic aromatic (PCA) the aromatic oil used so far, which is going to be banned in Europe next year.

The so called orange oil is, according to Yokohama, increasing the flexibility of the tyres and improves the grip at the same time as it is environmentally friendly.

Yokohama was appointed single tyre supplier, replacing Michelin, in 2006 and is going to remain as supplier for the next three seasons.
