Giovanardi and Muller linked to Chevrolet
Italian touring car star Fabrizio Giovanardi could get company from Frenchman Yvan Muller in the Chevrolet team next year.
“I am in talks with a team in particular, but nothing has been decided yet,” said Giovanardi to TouringCarTimes.com.
The Chevrolet team confirmed earlier this year that they are going to expand for 2010.
Alain Menu and Rob Huff are likely to remain, but strong sources to TouringCarTimes.com indicate that Yvan Muller already has got a contract with Chevrolet for 2010.
“Actually, it’s not something I can tell you, but I’m pretty much aware of what’s going to happen next year,” said Muller.
Giovanardi is, according to our information, negotiating with Chevrolet, Lada and Team Aon of BTCC, for 2010 and is keen to get a drive.
“I would be deeply sorry not to find a drive for next year. If you sit out for one year, then it gets harder to come back,” said Giovanardi.
But despite the hard times, Giovanardi is looking ahead to a brighter future for WTCC with the new rules on the way in.
“2010 is going to be a tough one because of the global crisis, but with the rumours placing more manufacturers in the championship when the rules will change [in 2011] the World Touring Car Championship will get more and more interesting,” said Giovanardi.
