Yvan Muller fastest in Japan

Reigning champion Yvan Muller set the fastest time during the first test session at the Japanese track Okayama. The Frenchman was only one hundredth of a second faster than championship rival Augusto Farfus and two hundredth of a second faster than team mate Tiago Monteiro.

The times were close throughout the entire field as 13 drivers were within one second during the session.

The Swede Rickard Rydell was fourth fastest, right ahead of manufacturer colleague and championship leader Gabriele Tarquini.

Jordi Gené was last of the TDi SEAT’s in sixth, ahead of Andy Priaulx and best Chevrolet driver Alain Menu.

Jörg Müller and Nicola Larini rounded off top ten.
