Farfus quickest in first practise

During this mornings first practise session it was Augusto Farfus who set the fastest lap. His first flying lap was a time of 1:37.626, which eventually could not be bettered by the other drivers. His team mate Andy Priaulx was second fastest.

After ten minutes into the session the red flags had to be brought out, after Wiechers driver Stefano D’Aste had crashed his car. He lost control of his BMW after jumping over the curbs and crashed into a wall at Piper Bend.

Jordi Gene was third fastest, ahead of his team mates Yvan Muller and Tiago Monteiro.

Quickest privateer was Felix Porteiro in seventh. His rival Tom Coronel was not far away in eleventh.
