Augusto Farfus tops first Macau practice
BMW’s title challenger Augusto Farfus topped the first practice session at Macau ahead of the WTCC finale of 2009. The Brazilian lapped the track in 2:32.747. That time was half a second quicker than his team mate Jörg Müller.
Chevrolet driver Rob Huff was third fastest, just shy of a second behind Farfus time.
Farfus title challengers Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini was fifth and seventh respectively.
Muller’s team mate Rickard Rydell, who might be doing his last ever SEAT race this weekend, was fourth fastest.
Previous world champion Andy Priaulx was sixth fastest in his RBM prepared BMW 320si.
Two drivers damaged their cars during the session. Stefano D’Aste and Jaap van Lagen crashed at Matsuya and Fishermen’s bend respectively.
