Rob Huff takes Macau pole position

Rob Huff managed the chaotic final qualifying session of the year at Macau best and claimed pole position for Chevrolet. The Brit lapped the track in 2:32.141.
“I have never experienced such a qualifying session in my life. But I am very happy to have taken pole position,” said Huff.

The track was more than slippery after all the previous accidents.
“The hairpin was like an ice rink, I almost hit the barriers there,” said Huff.

Andy Priaulx took second position, right ahead of fellow BMW driver and championship contender Augusto Farfus.

The chances for Farfus to gain on his two championship rivals Gabriele Tarquini and Yvan Muller increased drastically in final qualifying session.

As the two SEAT drivers crashed, Muller lost control and Tarquini was unable to avoid him, they were unable to set any further times as the session resumed.

Muller is going to start seventh and Tarquini eight. The SEAT team are facing a tough job during the night and tomorrow because of the damage sustained in the accident.

Rickard Rydell was unable to take part in the second qualifying session due to technical problems. His two other team mates Jordi Gené and Tiago Monteiro were able to take part in the qualifying session and are going to start fourth and fifth respectively.

Jörg Müller claimed sixth with a time that was almost two seconds slower compared to Huff.
