Mario Theissen stays on at BMW
After a period of uncertainty Mario Theissen has announced that he will remain in his position as BMW’s Motorsport Director.
Theissen began his time with BMW in 1997, and was appointed Motorsport Director in April 2009, but after BMW’s decision to exit Formula 1, he took time to make a decision regarding his future in the role.
To end the building media speculation that he could become affiliated with the Peter Sauber led takeover of the BMW Formula 1 project, Theissen said “I will remain as motorsport director at BMW”, on autosport.com.
BMW are set to announce the level o their involvement in the World Touring Car Championship on 5th December, and Theissen’s continuation as Motorsport Director could have significant bearing on this decision.
