No Chevrolet deal for Giovanardi

Double British Touring Car Championship champion Fabrizio is still without a drive for 2010. The earlier talks with Chevrolet for the World Touring Car Championship have been stopped.
“There were talks, but in the end their plans meant I could not be included in their lineup for next year,” said Giovanardi to TouringCarTimes.com.

Chevrolet earlier announced that they were going to expand to five cars for 2010, but as both BMW and SEAT are expected to reduce their teams, there is no need for an expansion for Chevrolet.

“It is sad, but things don’t always go your way, do they? I still would
like to wish them the best of luck for their future,” said Giovanardi.

Things are instead pointing at the Superstars series in Italy for Giovanardi in 2010. The Italian has, according to our information, been approached by some of the top teams in the series.

Giovanardi is open minded about the series when asked if he is considering a switch to the Superstars series.

“Of course the Superstars series would be interesting. I am open to any solution, but I’m not desperate to have a drive next year.

If things go properly and I have a competitive car and a serious project in my hands, I will go for it with a lot of enthusiasm. I still love racing and a new challenge would be interesting to take, as I said before,” said Giovanardi.
