No balance of performance changes in 2010

The FIA issued the following statement today: “There will be no balance of performance changes to any of the cars after the start of the 2010 season.” This means that the Touring Car Bureau has been closed in its current form for 2010, a development TouringCarTimes.com reported about two months ago.

The Touring Car Bureau handled the rules, dispensations, weight changes and more for the WTCC.

For 2010 the Touring Car Bureau will instead handle the homologation of new models for the S2000 rules.

The decision is going to mean that there will be no changes during the season such as the introduction of plastic windows and flat floor for the Chevrolet Cruze ahead of the race at Pau in 2009.

It also means that the base weights for each model set ahead of the season is going to remain the same for the entire season.

The penalty weight system is going to remain in the same form as in 2009.
