Tarquini crowned world champion in Monaco

Gabriele Tarquini was yesterday officially crowned the 2009 FIA World Touring Car Championship champion at the traditional FIA gala in Monaco. Tarquini was in good company with such profiles as new Formula One champion Jenson Button and WRC champion Sebastien Loeb.

Tarquini stepped on to the stage with SEAT Sport director Jaime Puig to receive the trophies for the drivers and manufacturers title.

This is the second consecutive year that SEAT collects both titles, last year with Frenchman Yvan Muller.
