New privateer team heading for WTCC

A new privateer team is heading for the FIA World Touring Car Championship, named Company X Racing. The team is aiming to run two BMW 320si this season.
“We have a complete team with cars, equipment and personnel ready to go,” said team boss Dan Alexander.

No drivers have been signed yet, but the team has approached a number of drivers. Team boss Alexander is confident of the state of the team ahead of the season.

“We have a very good team with extensive experience of racing all over the world, everything from touring cars to GT and sportscars,” said Alexander.

The team is aiming high for the coming season and even hopes to challenge the works teams for victories.

“With the number of works teams appearing to be to be seriously reduced for the 2010 season of WTCC, all privateer teams have a good opportunity. Company X Racing will look to capitalize and add a real challenger to the WTCC grid.

From my experience in the last two WTCC seasons, I think we can challenge for the lead in the Independent Championship and even overall race wins are not out of the question.

With so few manufacturers we think we can break in to the top ten rather often,” said Alexander.
