Swiss fans to see Menu on home tarmac

Like all Swiss racing drivers, Alain Menu has not had many chances to perform in front of his home fans. But this June Menu’s home fans will be able to see the double BTCC champion demonstrate a two-seater Chevrolet Cruze at the Course Automobile de Romont in the Fribourg canton.

Menu will be the guest of honour at the 40th edition of the traditional event, and he is certainly looking forward to the 12-13 June.

“Anyone in Switzerland wishing to make a career in motorsports basically has to expatriate” said Menu. “Swiss fans are used to travel abroad to see races and support their drivers, and I have met a lot of them throughout my many years of racing, but having the possibility to be at the wheel of the Cruze on home soil and in front of my fans is really a rare chance!

“I’m anxious to be in Romont, an iconic event in our country, and being there driving a Chevrolet, not very far away from where Louis Chevrolet was born, is a plus. It will be an emotional moment, which I
look forward to enjoying and sharing with Swiss fans”.

The even gives Menu the chance to follow in the footsteps of two Swiss legends – Jo Siffert and Clay Regazzoni. ‘Seppi’ was born in Fribourg and began his career on the roads of the hilly region, while Regazzoni was the guest of honour at the 1999 Course Automobile de Romont.
