Henry Ho to join Engstler mid-season

Ho Wai Kun, better known as Henry Ho, will join the WTCC mid-season in a BMW 320si run by the team of Franz Engstler. The 24-year-old, who made two appearances for Team Engstler in 2009, competing at Okayama and his home round in Macau, had been in negotiations to run a full season, but will now settle for a half year campaign.

“It was one of my targets to build up a new team with Asian drivers. But same as in Europe, we had to face the financial crisis in Asia too and we failed to find the budget for the whole season. However, Ho Wai Kun will join us from the middle of the season” explained Team Manager Kurt Treml.

Ho is a double Macau Touring Car Champion, having won the titles in 2008 and 2009. In his four WTCC races with Engstler in 2010 he recorded a best finish of 19th in Race Two at Macau.

Liqui Moly Team Engstler are due to announce their WTCC driver line-up in the next few days while it has not yet been announced at exactly which round Ho will join up with the German team.
