Farfus causes stir with injury claim

BMW driver Augusto Farfus will be racing through injury for the first race of the season at Curitiba, after hurting his legs during pre-season training. The Brazilian caused a brief scare by saying it would take four months to recover – then explained it only means he can’t run.

Farfus made these announcements on his twitter feed last night and this morning.

The Brazilian has been training heavily for the new season, where he changes teams after three years at Schnitzer Motorsport, to join former champion Andy Priaulx at RBM.

Farfus corrected his innocuous comment, which implied a ‘serious’ injury this morning:
“Good Morning! I just want to clariry (sic) that my injury is NOT serious, and doesnt (sic) affect at all my racing activities. And i will be 100% shape for the 1st race. It happen due to overtraining. As Im (sic) on a really intense pre-season preparation – i runned 400km in the last 2 months

the doctor just suggest me to dont run for the next 4 months, instead of running, i will do bike, and swimming!!”

The first race of the season is on the 7th March.
