No Lada in the WTCC premiere

There will be no Lada in the FIA World Touring Car Championship premiere, according to the Dutch site RTL GP. The Russian manufacturer is going to miss both of the first two races on the other side of the Atlantic, Brazil and Mexico.

As the boats with the WTCC cars left for Brazil, no Lada’s were onboard and it is uncertain if there will be any for the rest of the season.

Lada driver Jaap van Lagen stated in an earlier interview that Lada is going to be in trouble if they withdraw.

“Lada has invested tremendously in recent years and they have a three-year contract with the WTCC organisation. If they stop now, they will be sued,” said van Lagen to RTL.

The team is reported to be aiming to be back for the race in Morocco on the 2nd of May.
