No TDI’s in independents trophy
With SEAT and Lada retiring from the WTCC as official works teams and a couple of new teams entering the series without official manufacturer backing, it looked like there would be a lot of drivers eligible for the Yokohama Independents Trophy.
However, today the FIA announced that no diesel-powered car will be eligible to score points for the independents trophy.
This means that during the first round of the 2010 WTCC at Curitiba only the following seven cars will be able to score points for the independents trophy:
– Franz Engstler (BMW 320si)
– Andrei Romanov (BMW 320si)
– Harry Vaulkhard (Chevrolet Lacetti)
– Darryl O’Young (Chevrolet Lacetti)
– Mehdi Bennani (BMW 320si)
– Sergio Hernández (BMW 320si)
– Stefano D’Aste (BMW 320si)
The following drivers wil be eligible for the WTCC Rookie Challenge:
– Norbert Michelisz (SEAT León 2.0 TDI)
– Michel Nykjær (SEAT León 2.0 TDI)
– Fredy Barth (SEAT León 2.0 TDI)
– Harry Vaulkhard (Chevrolet Lacetti)
– Darryl O’Young (Chevrolet Lacetti)
– Mehdi Bennani (BMW 320si)
