Muller takes first pole for Chevrolet

Yvan Muller has taken pole position in his first race for Chevrolet, despite having to avoid the recovering Zengo-Dension SEAT of Norbert Michelisz in the qualifying shootout at Curitiba.

SR-Sport’s Jordi Gené will start on the front row.

On a track where slipstreaming was vital to obtain good grid position, Chevrolet & SEAT worked well to get their cars in good position. Augusto Farfus didn’t go out for a final lap, leaving three-times champion Andy Priaulx to go it alone for his final run and only qualify sixth.

The top independent driver will be Proteam’s Stefano D’Aste, who will start 13th.

The top WTCC Rookie Challenge driver will be Michael Nykjaer, who will start from eighth place in his SUNRED SEAT León TDI.

“It’s fantastic, it’s always good to start the season like this, I started last year like this” said pole sitter Yvan Muller.

“I’m pleased for the team, it’s my first race for Chevrolet, we are 1, 3 and 4 so I think it’s a good result for the team, definitely”.
