Tarquini fastest in second practice session
During the final session ahead of qualifying Italian Gabriele Tarquini set the fastest lap. The SEAT driver was just 0.049s faster than local hero Augusto Farfus.
The session started 15 minutes late, because some barriers had to be repaired after an incident in one of the support series.
After the second practice session had started, it didn’t take Tarquini long to set the fastest lap. The BMW’s of Farfus and Priaulx got very close, but in the end the Italian stayed at the top. Farfus finished in second, while Priaulx was third just over a tenth down.
The three Chevrolet works drivers finished right behind them, with Muller in fourth, Huff in fifth and Menu in sixth.
Harry Vaulkhard crashed earlier in the day, but his team managed to repair the car to get him out at the end of the practise session.
All three makes set a fastest time in a sector of the track. Andy Priaulx (BMW) set the fastest time in the first sector, Gabriele Tarquini (SEAT) was quickest in the second sector while Yvan Muller (Chevrolet) was the fastest man in the third sector.
Quickest man of the independent drivers was Franz Engstler, 0.875s behind Tarquini in tenth.
