Muller and Tarquini share championship lead
The two WTCC champions Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini share the championship lead after the season premiere in Brazil. Muller won the first race and was fourth in the second.
“What can I say? I couldn’t have dreamt of a better start for the season, both for the team and myself,” said Muller.
Tarquini “reversed” Muller’s results with a fourth place in the first race and victory in race number two.
“The plan was to get a podium and maybe a win and I did that so it’s a fantastic start to the season. The SR-Sport team have done a fantastic job,” said Tarquini.
Their closest competitor at the moment is Muller’s team mate Alain Menu, seven points behind in third.
“It was a great weekend for Chevrolet and I have achieved two podium finishes, which was my objective before the race,” said Menu.
