López takes pole in Uruguay

José María López has taken pole position for the first race of the TC2000 season at Punta del Este in Uruguay.

Guillermi Ortelli, who was fastest in the morning practice session, will line-up alongside in his Chevrolet Vectra.

López praised the Equipe Petrobras team for giving him a fantastic car. Team mate Nestor Girolami will start third in his first race for the team:
“I’m very happy for third place, is the first time I’ve run with this car and it’s also my debut at this track”.

Ortelli’s looking forward to the race tomorrow, and hopes to challenge for the win:
“Tomorrow’s race will be difficult as there are not many places to overtake, but their are opportunities there to grasp.”

Facundo Ardusso also impressed in his first qualifying, being the top Toyota in fourth on his debut, two spots ahead of team leader Mariano Werner.
