Basso grabs pole with sprint win

Martín Basso has claimed pole position at General Roca, after winning the street race for Ford-YPF ahead of Fiat’s Emiliano Spataro.

Basso took the initiative from the start, passing Spataro’s Fiat Linea, and went on to win by just over six seconds – claiming first on the grid for the feature race.

Championship leader José María López put in a good performance to climb to 8th place, chief rival Norberto Fontana will start the main race from 11th in the newer Ford Focus Mk II.
