Controversial crash between Menu and Farfus
Alan Menu and Augusto Farfus were forced to retire from the second FIA World Touring Car Championship race at Marrakech last weekend. The both were fighting for fifth when they clashed and hit the wall hard.
“I fought with Farfus, and I managed to overtake him but he hit me in the back, sending me into the wall. Nothing I could do, it’s so frustrating,” said Menu.
Farfus was defending and Menu tried to go around the outside of him coming in to a fast chicane. Exiting that corner, neither of the drivers gave each other room, resulting in a big crash, as seen in the video below.
“…I ended up getting a touch from Alain Menu and suffered a puncture to my right front tire and breaking the steering of the car, with that I lost control of the car, causing my accident and I was forced to abandon the race,” said Farfus.
Neither Menu nor Farfus managed to get any substantial points from the race weekend in Morocco. But neither of them has given up just yet.
“The season is still long and I look forward to a different story in Monza,” said Menu.
“There is still more to come of the championship and we will come back on top at Monza!” said Farfus.
