Müller & Farfus win Nurburgring 24 Hour Race

Jörg Müller & Augusto Farfus, along with Uwe Alzen & Pedro Lamy have won the Nurburgring 24 Hour race with Schnitzer Motorsport.

Müller, who last drove in the WTCC last year and finished runner up in 2006, and current driver Augusto Farfus, helped BMW to acheive a surprise win on the manufacturers return to the special endurance race after a five year absence.

Last time in 2005, the Schnitzer BMW M3 won in the hands of three times WTCC champion Andy Priaulx, Pedro Lamy, Boris Said & Duncan Huisman.

BMW’s second M3, driven by Priaulx, Dirk Müller, Dirk Adorf & Dirk Werner recovered to finish seventh, after being involved in an earlier incident.

Audi on the other hand had an even unluckier race, despite qualifying on pole and looking set to contend for overall victory, the Audi R8 LMS cars all ran in to incident. The pole sitting #100 car featuring past and present DTM stars Mattias Ekström, Oliver Jarvis, Timo Scheider & Marco Werner crashed out whilst running in second place and was unable to continue.

BMW drivers Priaulx and Farfus will make their way to Monza next week for the third round of the WTCC.

With Andy Priaulx winning last time out in a safety car shortened race in Marrakech, he will be looking to build on his fourth place in the standings.
