Coronel targeting another podium finish
Tom Coronel is targeting another podium finish at Monza, after finishing as the fastest SEAT driver in Friday testing.
The reigning Yokohama Independent Trophy champion is well aware Monza suits the León:
“Monza is the fastest circuit we are racing on and the last four races were won by a SEAT.” said Coronel.
Tom finished on the podium last time out at Morocco, scoring well in a weekend contrasting to the first round of the season in Brazil.
After two strong races for SEAT & Chevrolet, the WTCC have now applied the performance balancing penalties to both manufacturers, giving them 40kg to carry around with them whilst the BMW’s are unchanged.
“The weight is a fact, it has been decided by the organisers and we have to cope with it.” said Coronel
“But at a circuit like Monza with its long straights, its effect isn’t as big as on a twisty track, for instance Zolder, where you notice the disadvantage much more.”
