Monteiro gets grid drop for shortcutting

Tiago Monteiro has received a five place penalty for repeatedly cutting the first corner chicane in Q1, this drops him to 15th for race one tomorrow.

The stewards report reads:
“Car #3 Cut chicane and took an advantage – Breach of Article 13B of the General Prescriptions and Article 90 of the FIA WTCC Sporting Regulations”.

The penalty awarded is a drop of five places on the grid for the first race tomorrow, which elevates Michael Nykjaer in the SUNRED Engineering SEAT León to tenth.

Monteiro will now start behind the Cruze of Leonel Pernía, and just ahead of Mehdi Bennani in the Wiechers-Sport BMW.
