Bamboo drivers caught out by the weather

With much improved pace in practice, it seemed possible that both Bamboo Engineering drivers could have joined the top 10, but were caught out by the changing weather at Zolder.

In the final practice session, Harry Vaulkhard was fifth, and Darryl O’Young ninth, with Darryl fourth on the Friday test session, but in the qualifying session, Darryl was 14th and Harry 20th.

“We had a really strong run on our first set of tyres, we were in the top ten after everyone’s first runs”, explained Darryl to TouringCarTimes.

“But we thought it was going to rain so we decided to go out a bit earlier on our second set of tyres and unfortunately we went a bit too early – it just started raining on my second lap, but then instead of raining more, it actually stopped just dried out, and towards the end of the session everyone just went quicker.”

Darryl’s still optimistic of a good result for the team tomorrow though.

“The car’s been great, we did a long run this morning in the free practice and the times have been consistently good…I think we can have a good race, we just need to get through the first lap and stay out of trouble.”
