Gené fastest in red-flagged second practice

Jordi Gené topped the second FIA World Touring Car Championship practice session at Zolder. The session was brought to a halt with four minutes left as Gabriele Tarquini blew his engine in a spectacular way, bringing the red flags out.

Tiago Monteiro, who topped the first session, was second fastest in this session, just 0.034 seconds behind his team mate.

Yvan Muller headed three Chevrolet’s in third, with team mate Alain Menu in fourth and privateer Harry Vaulkhard in fifth.

Andy Priaulx was best BMW driver in sixth ahead of Norbert Michelisz. Tarquini managed to set the eight fastest time before his engine blew.
