No replacement for Mexico

There will be no replacement for the Mexican race this year, confirmed by the FIA World Touring Car Championship organisers today.
“We did not find the conditions to seal a satisfactory agreement, and taking into account that this is a season affected by the global crisis, we thought it was better to settle on 11 events,” said series boss Marcello Lotti.

The Mexican race was cancelled due to local authorities not being able to guarantee the safety of the visitors of the area surrounding the track.

Many different locations have been mentioned as possible replacements. Although the WTCC organisation stated today that none of the proposed events could meet the required standards.
