Michelisz knows he needs to work on starts

Norbert Michelisz is aware he needs to work on his standing starts, after throwing away another front row grid position at Zolder.

The Zengo-Dension driver still won both races in the rookie challenge category however, and assumed the lead in the class from Fredy Barth, after finishing seventh overall in both races.

“I don’t have good memories from the standing start, especially from position two, because in Morocco I was stalling the engine when I was starting from second”, Michelisz told TouringCarTimes

“I prefer (rolling starts), and the car prefers the rolling starts too”.

In race one, Michelisz finished seventh and picked up a front row grid position in the second race of the weekend, sharing the front row with the BMW of Andy Priaulx.

Whereas the rear-wheel drive BMW favours the standing starts, the TDI SEAT’s generally suffer, with both Michelisz and Tom Coronel struggling to get away at the Belgian race.

The rolling starts used in the first race however, introduced in 2007 in order to acheive balance between the front-wheel and rear-wheel drive cars favours the low-end torque diesel powered SEAT’s.

Michelisz knows however he needs to address the standing start issue:

“Last time the revolutions were a little bit too low, this time they were a little bit too high”, he said

“Maybe I need to practice another start, or two or three”
