FIAT driver Spataro wins sprint race

FIAT’s Emiliano Spataro has won the sprint/qualifying race at the Resistencia circuit in Argentina, and will line-up on pole position for the day’s feature race.

Spataro started from pole position, and led the whole distance to a comfortable victory, winning by 10 seconds from Honda Racing’s Nestor Girolami.

Championship leader Norberto Fontana, after a troubled qualifying session on Saturday, ended up 22nd at the end of the sprint race, meaning his chances for a good points haul this weekend are severely dented.

Mariano Altuna, currently second in the championship however, didn’t complete a lap and will start 30th after getting involved in a first lap crash with Matías Marchesi, Bernardo Llaver, Ruben Salerno & Leonardo Carlucci.

José María López will start sixth for the feature race and has the best chance to reassume the championship lead.
