Michelisz gets penalty for Turkington/Muller contact
Norbert Michelisz has been served with a ten-place grid drop for the next race at Oschersleben for the contact which took Yvan Muller out at Brno.
After the safety car period, Michelisz turned eBay Motors driver Colin Turkington across the track, and straight into championship leader Yvan Muller.
The damage caused to Yvan Muller’s car forced the Frenchman to retire and derailed the Chevrolet driver’s weekend, and also left Michelisz stuck in the gravel trap with broken suspension.
Colin Turkington was able to continue with damage to the front splitter to finish sixth, not losing any positions from the incident.
The Hungarian driver, at the closest event to a home race had a nightmare weekend after a good qualifying performance.
Starting from the back in race two, he could only finish 14th overall, and saw both rookie challenge victories go to Michel Nykjaer & Darryl O’Young, after a strong run recently winning in class in six out of the last seven races.
Michelisz was also fined 1000 Euro’s for overtaking during the safety car period.
