More penalties – O’Young loses indie win

Darryl O’Young & Mehdi Bennani have been punished for collisions at Brno, with O’Young loses his race one independents class victory as a result.

bamboo-engineering driver Darryl O’Young was picked up for causing an accident in race one, where the Hong Kong driver had finished eighth overall and first in the independents’ category. The penalty drops O’Young to eighth in the independents’ category, and 17th overall in race one.

This gave the independents’ victory for race one to Kristian Poulsen, who was battling with the Lacetti across the line after a good recovery, after initially falling back after being involved in the first lap incident with Priaulx, Coronel & Gené.

Kristian Poulsen was the victim of another incident in race two with Mehdi Bennani, the Danish driver being knocked into the gravel by the Wiechers-Sport driver, for which Bennani also was given a retrospective drive through penalty (30 seconds added to his race distance).

Both O’Young & Bennani have also been given 10 place grid drops suspended for two races.

An unspecified incident between Alain Menu & Augusto Farfus was also investigated, but no action was taken.
