Priaulx takes win in race two as Tarquini retires

Andy Priaulx has won the second race at Brno ahead of Colin Turkington, whilst Tarquini retires and Muller fails to score allowing Priaulx and Huff to close in on the championship lead.

Colin Turkington swooped into the lead from the standing start passing pole sitter Darryl O’Young, with Andy Priaulx following him to take second, as the independent driver fell back to settle quietly behind the leading pack.

Michel Nykjaer was the main SEAT challenge at the start, but the SUNRED car retired at the end of the first lap.

On lap two, Priaulx overtook the eBay Motors BMW of Colin Turkington and the two held station to take a BMW 1-2, with Augusto Farfus eventually finishing in fifth.

Tarquini moved up the order to sit third throughout the first part of the race, briefly passing Turkington for second before going wide and falling back to fourth behind Alain Menu.

Tarquini looked set to move into the lead of championship with two strong finishes, with Yvan Muller unable to progress into the points position from the back, but the SEAT retired late in the race escalating Rob Huff into fourth, allowing the British driver to close up to within 32 points of his championship leading team mate.

Andy Priaulx lies third in the championship, just 16 points behind Yvan Muller after taking his fifth win of the season.

Darryl O’Young finished seventh, and was the highest classified independent driver, taking both independent wins at the track.

Tom Coronel put on the greatest charge in the field, after a DNF in race one, driving through to claim the last points position in his SEAT León.

The series takes a one month break before resuming at Oschersleben in Germany, with Yvan Muller heading there with the same 199 points he took to Brno, with Tarquini on 194, and Andy Priaulx on 183.
