3M joins TC2000 as title sponsor
3M, the multinational technology company based in the US has joined the Argentinean TC2000 championship as title sponsor, the series now becomes the 3M Argentinean TC2000 Championship.
As the championship gets set for the seventh round at La Rioja, the announcement of a title sponsor as strong as the 3M brand adds great strength to Argentina’s touring car series.
3M’s a logical partnership with motorsport, with among the many thousands of products the company produces, paint and masking tape are something any touring car series certainly couldn’t do without.
With drivers such as World Touring Car champion Gabriele Tarquini, and two-times British Touring Car champion Alain Menu, having shown interest by competing in the championship, the 3M Argentinean TC2000 Championship is going from strength to strength.
Leonel Pernía goes into La Rioja leading the championship for Equipo Petrobras, ahead of his two Honda team mates Mariano Altuna & José María López.
Ford YPF’s Norberto Fontana’s bad run at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo saw him drop to fourth in the championship, and is now 21 points behind Pernía.
The Equipo Petrobras Honda team have a comfortable lead in the teams championship, with 179 points to Ford-YPF’s 108, with Toyota Team Argentina some way back in third place on 58 points.
