BMW happy with pole, but expect Chevrolet to threaten

Augusto Farfus was delighted to claim pole position, but expects it will be hard to keep the Chevrolets at bay during the race, whilst Priaulx belives tyre barriers may come into play.

Augusto Farfus took pole position in a dramatic qualifying at Oschersleben. Rain towards the end of Q2 made the track slippery and saw several cars run off.

For Augusto Farfus though it was all smiles as he gave himself a great chance to start the weekend with a win at one of his favourite tracks after securing his second pole position of the season.
“This is a great circuit, I love it here and is very happy with another pole here, he said. It was very tricky conditions today, the rain in Q2 made it into a bit of a lottery but I got a good lap together which was enough for pole. Important to be on the first row for the first corner tomorrow. Rob is on another planet but we still have the performance and can have a good race if we get a clean start. ”

Pole position was welcome after what has been a tough season for the Brazilian so far.
“My chances in the championship is probably gone, I’m just being realistic. Andy still has a good chance for the title and we can win the manufacturers title so now it’s all about the points and work as a team towards the end, he said.”

Despite the off, Huff’s best time was enough to secure himself second place on the grid after Chevrolet continues to look very strong this weekend.
“It’s been a really good weekend so far, he admitted. We have been fast no matter the conditions and I got a great lap in Q1. The rain came a bit too quick, we would have loved to have pole but I’m confident for the race. I think we will be quick in every conditions, maybe rain will give us a small advantage but I’m feeling confident.”

On the situation with this team mate Huff was dissapointed but felt it was one of those unfortunate things.
“I lost grip but caught the slide and the momentum got me back out on the track and into Menu. Of course it’s dissapointing but it’s one of those things. Being second despite that is not bad.”

Underlining a great qualifying for BMW, Andy Priaulx secured third place and will start directly behind his team mate for tomorrows race.
“This was quite a lottery but despite hitting the tyre barriers in the chicane I managed to post my fastest lap and secure the inside line for tomorrow. Rob seems to be on another planet but it’s a long race and hopefully it’s dry and tyre degradation can play into our hands tomorrow,” Priaulx said.

The tyre barriers in the chicanes have been a discussing point during the weekend with several drivers hitting the tyres hard. Farfus hoped it was something that could be fixed for the races tomorrow.
“It can be an issue for the race tomorrow if someone hit them and they came into the path of the other cars. I hope the organizers will have a look and maybe find another solution for tomorrow.”
