Menu takes win, as Huff gets black flagged

Alain Menu emerged as the winner and giving Chevrolet its first win on the German track in Oschersleben. But not before controversy as Chevy team mate Rob Huff was black flagged whilst leading the race.

As expected the start and run down into the first tight corner at Oschersleben proved to be one of the decisive moments of the race.

Pole sitter Augusto Farfus got pushed from behind by Rob Huff and ran wide, losing several spots. That was an incident that gave Rob Huff a drive through penalty but replays showed Huff also was hit from behind by team mate Alain Menu.

Chevrolet clearly felt the penalty was wrong and Huff appeared to ignore the drive through for several laps and continued to increase his lead. He was subsequently black flagged on lap 9 and parked the car in the pits on lap 11.

Meanwhile Augusto Farfus showed fighting spirit and fought back from fourth position after the start and finished in second place, close behind Menu.

The real winner in the race though was Yvan Muller who finished third and increased his championship lead. With title rivals Gabriele Tarquini out of the race in the carnage on the first lap and Andy Priaulx another victim of the messy start and finishing sixth.

Further back Norbert Michelisz showed some great speed to claim eight place after his grid penalty from the last round at Brno and now has pole position for the second race.

In the Independents’ category Dane Kristan Poulsen won by finishing ninth overall, just ahead of Sergio Hernandez.
