Tarquini on pole at Valencia
Gabriele Tarquini has taken pole position at Valencia, but will have three Chevrolet Cruzes right behind him at SEAT’s home track.
In Q1, Fredy Barth set the fastest time ahead of fellow countryman Alain Menu, but in Q2, Tarquini was quick to set the pole position lap of 1:44.111.
Robert Huff and Yvan Muller’s late run put them up to second and third, with Alain Menu starting fourth.
Andy Priaulx qualified 10th, but will start 9th after Coronel’s grid penalty, which means the Guernseyman will be on target to aim for a high grid position in race two, as has been his strategy often this season.
Kristian Poulsen was the fastest independent setting the 12th fastest time.
