Monteiro wins action packed second race

Tiago Monteiro won the second FIA World Touring Car Championship race of the day at Valencia in Spain. The Portuguese started third but was able to get in to the lead on the first lap. Yvan Muller claimed yet another podium finish in second ahead of previous race winner Gabriele Tarquini.

Alain Menu had pole position but made a poor start, allowing Fredy Barth to get past. Menu instead found him self in a battle with Andy Priaulx.

The both made contact, resulting in Menu spinning off track while Priaulx was able to continue.

Barth was passed by Monteiro on the first lap and was not long after that passed by Muller. Championship leader Muller made an excellent start from seventh on the grid to second in just a couple of laps.

Barth continued to drop down through the field and finally had to pit with a puncture on his SEAT Léon.

The fight for second got really hot during the final couple of laps. Priaulx caught Tarquini and went past the Italian for third in the final corner, but Tarquini was able to respond and just got past Priaulx ahead of the race finish.
