Spataro on pole at Neuquén

Fiat’s Emiliano Spataro has set the fastest time in qualifying ahead of tomorrows TC2000 race at Neuquén, ahead of Honda’s Nestor Girolami & Toyota’s Facundo Ardusso.

Spataro’s pole lap of 1:29.900 was almost two-tenths of a second faster than Girolami’s Honda Civic, whilst Toyota Team Argentina had a strong run with drivers Facundo Ardusso and Mariano Werner third and fourth fastest.

Three of Scuderia Fiat’s drivers broke into the top 10, with the team’s other two drivers, Leandro Carducci and Ignacio Char down in 22nd and 24th places.

Norberto Fontana, second in the championship, was seventh fastest in the Ford-YPF Focus, whilst series leader Leonel Pernía was 17th in the Equipo Petrobras Honda Civic.

Juan Cruz Alvarez was an impressive fifth in the Peugeot 307 of the Peugeot Cobra Team.

The main race is a 70 minute endurance event on Sunday, with two split field heats in the morning.
